QAMIŞLO – The Executive Body’s member of Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) Aldar Khalil stated that the Turkish state by its attacks on Afrin and al-Shahba areas would commit suicide, and these attacks happened after the political and diplomatic choking that the Turkish state suffered from. Aldar Khalil also said “Afrin’s protests is an evidence that the people would repel any attack”.
The Executive Body’s member of TEV-DEM stated in an interview with Hawar news agency that Afrin and al-Shahba areas are threatened by the Turkish attacks while the Turkish state attempts, by various means, to launch attacks on Afrin canton, but their attacks are different from the previous ones, the results also would be different. Moreover, as People Protection Unit (YPG) and Women Protection Unit (YPJ) defeated IS mercenaries in Kobanî, Turkey’s fate would not be better.
Khalil made it clear that the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan and AKP’s government are heading towards their end by launching attacks on Afrin canton and al-Shahba areas. This indicates that Rojava revolution enters a new phase.
Turkey reached the strangling phase by its policy
Aldar Khalil described the Turkish attacks on Afrin and al-Shahba areas as “political strangling” and said “the Turkish attacks on Afrin indicates that Turkey reached the stage of strangling. After Wrath of Euphrates campaign had begun, the Turkish state got convinced that it no longer has a role in Syria, and this became clear by their diplomatic relations decline and foreign relations failure. In addition, by launching attacks, the Turkish state attempts to restore its role in Syria and interfere in the Syrian interior affairs”.
Putting pressure on the global coalition, obstructing the federal project
Khalil stated that the Turkish state, addition to its attempts to occupy al-Shahba and Afrin lands, tries to put pressure on the global Coalition to become a partner in al-Raqqa liberation campaign and, to obstruct Rojava and north of Syria achievements and the project of democratic federalism. Aldar Khalil continued “today, after the successive defeats of IS mercenaries, Turkey attempts to form other gangs to hit any democratic project that would be formed in Syria”.
Khalil also said “the Turkish state attempts to preserve its existence and role in Geneva negotiations, but the developments that the area is witnessing indicate that Turkey has no longer any role or effect on Syria. Moreover, it is expected that Geneva’s map would be changed”.
Aldar Khalil stated that any attack on al-Shahba areas and Afrin canton is considered an attack on the democratic projects in Rojava and north of Syria, and on the whole Syrian people’s will.
The Executive Body’s member of TEV-DEM concluded saying “our people’s power and will would foil all the Turkish plans, and the historic demonstration that Afrin witnessed is a proof that the people with all components would repel any attack. In addition, the victory would by the people’s side”
